About ILovemySignature

I am in love with my signature. I probably created my first signature when I was in grade-4.  I noticed my class teacher meticulously signing on all our notebooks. I was amazed at the way she signed her name using just two initials. From then onwards I started noticing that each of my teachers had a distinct signature. I was impressed with my father's handwriting and his style of signature. My first signature was an attempt to copy his style of signing.

Those were the days when emails and internet didn't exist. I corresponded with my friends and relatives through long handwritten letters. I would eagerly look forward to those days when my grandpa would send his letters and with it came lots of blessings and his curious little signature that I loved. I was fascinated with all those personalities who possessed good handwriting and signatures and would often judge their character and nature based on their signatures.

Often, on visiting the art galleries, I searched for and observed the small doodles at the corner of the canvas and found them more interesting than the paintings. As a kid, I enjoyed taking autographs of dignitaries. I remember a musical band, with renowned singers from the Bollywood industry, who came for a live performance to our small town. I felt I was privileged to have their autographs in my small autograph book which I had specifically reserved for autographs of important people.

I didn't know then what I would grow up to be, but one thing I made for sure was to have a good signature. My first name was small and my surname long. So the idea behind creating my signature was to design it in such a way that would require the minimum amount of time to sign any documents. I thought I would have to sign my name every now and then, hence I took great time and effort to design my signature. Unfortunately, I ended up in a profession that wouldn't require the frequent use of signatures.

Today, in this paperless world, gone are the days when we would use signatures creatively. Most of you would consider it as a waste of time and old-fashioned. All we do now is hurriedly sign off on bank papers or other important documents and that's the end of using signatures.

You must be wondering why all of a sudden this urge to design signatures?
Well, my 6-year-old daughter had to make her signature on a form yesterday. She simply wrote down her name. When I showed my signature she was impressed and wanted me to make one for her too. This just reminded me of my signatures and how at every stage of my life it kept changing to the final form it has assumed now.

I am starting this blog not to show off how well I can sign or how creative I am in my effort, but rather I would like it to be a medium to pass a goodwill message each day bringing positive thinking in all our lives. Also, I take it as a challenge personally to see if I can really carry on with this exercise each day and to what extent I can explore with just a few letters of my name, and at the same time usher positive thinking.

I hope the following 30 days of my quest for signature and good-will ends up in a positive way. If you too want to be a part of this journey do feel free to share your creative signature ideas in this blog. Also, if you want me to design your signature just do not hesitate to do so by mailing me personally. It would be an honor to do something creative for my friends.

A word of caution here - I am not a signature analyst. This is just an effort from my side to bring positivity in our lives through the one thing we tend to ignore in our lives i.e. ourselves and positive thinking. This is just one small initiative to be proud of our names, our signatures and sign off positively.
