"To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance."
Oscar Wilde
A Penguin is associated with being a loving animal. A male penguin searches from a pile of pebbles to find the perfect one to present it to his intended mate. One look at these loving creatures and you are bound to love them for life. But did you know that Adelie penguins are known for their selfish action as it pushes off one of its own members into the cold waters of Antarctic to check if it can survive in there. Isn't that being very selfish? Yet nobody can hate penguins. There are many things to learn from a penguin; self-love and self-esteem is one of them.
Loving oneself is not being selfish or inhuman. At the same time, it doesn't mean you have to be arrogant and egocentric. In our journey of life, we tend to ignore our needs and wants. We strive endlessly to fulfill others' needs. As a child, you fulfill your parents dreams; as a life partner you shoulder your partner's responsibilities, as a parent you fulfill your child's needs. We probably make a lot of sacrifices for the people we love most in our lives. And in this entire process we tend to forget ourselves, our needs, and our happiness. Each one of us deserves to be loved and be happy in life. So love yourself. Listen to what your heart wants. Be like a penguin. Love like a penguin.
